Worth pursuing an MFA after English degree?

I'm graduating this spring with an English degree and I'm torn between applying for MFA programs or trying to get work experience first. I want to be a writer, but I'm also concerned about the cost and job prospects. Has anyone here pursued an MFA? Was it worth it for you?
